YOU’RE INVITED: Join us at Dedicated Senior Medical Center for a Lupus Awareness Month Walk, Education, and other fun activities on Friday, May 19th!

May 19, 2023 @ 9:30 am - 5:00 pm

Dedicated Senior Medical Center invites Jacksonville seniors and their families to join us for a free DocTalk and other Wellness Activities for Lupus Awareness Month on Friday, May 19th.

According to the CDC, “Lupus is a disease that can affect people of all ages, races, and ethnicities. The signs and symptoms mimic those of other diseases, making it hard to diagnose.”

This free community event will focus on:

  • Recognizing Signs and Symptoms of Lupus
  • Learning about the most vulnerable population (90% of people with Lupus are women!)
  • Advice from Dr. Vahide “Merih” Dogan-Bag (Va-Heed “Mary” Doh-gan Bag) about diagnosis, warning signs, and treatment

Guests can participate in morning and afternoon activities, including a simple Walk 4 Lupus around the building led by current Dedicated Patient and Lupus Survivor Kathy Hall. Complimentary refreshments, t-shirts, and Yoga & Meditation activities will be available for all guests in the center throughout the day (while supplies last)

WHERE: Dedicated Senior Medical Center – 1220 University Blvd. N.

Jacksonville, FL 32211

WHEN: Walk 4 Lupus will be from 9:30 a.m. to 10 a.m., followed by Lupus education activities all day long inside the center, including Yoga and Meditation classes.

A DocTalk Q&A will be from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. to answer any questions about Lupus.

WHO: Local seniors and loved ones impacted by Lupus

WHAT: Free community event focused on Lupus Awareness Month for Jacksonville seniors to learn about warning signs, symptoms, and treatment. A doctor will be available to answer questions from guests from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m.
