Salvation Army Kicks Off 2026 Red Kettle Campaign with Festive San Marco Celebration

November 13 @ 11:00 am
The Salvation Army of Northeast Florida will officially kick off its 2026 Red Kettle Campaign with a festive community celebration Friday, Nov. 13, at Balis Park in San Marco, marking the beginning of one of the organization’s most recognizable and impactful holiday traditions.
The annual Red Kettle Campaign brings together businesses, community leaders, volunteers and generous donors to help ensure individuals and families throughout Northeast Florida have access to essential services during the holidays and throughout the year. Every donation placed in a Red Kettle helps The Salvation Army provide critical assistance, including meals, emergency shelter, utility assistance, Christmas gifts for children and other programs that address local needs.
The community kickoff will feature holiday music, special guests and the ceremonial first ring of the season, setting the stage for weeks of giving and volunteerism across Northeast Florida.
Festivities will include:
  • A special appearance by Santa and Mrs. Claus, bringing holiday excitement to families and guests.
  • A musical performance by the Douglas Anderson School of the Arts Vocal Department, featuring festive holiday selections.
  • Cookies and holiday treats for event attendees.
  • The ceremonial first ring of the 2026 Red Kettle Campaign by a local celebrity, officially launching the season of giving.
The celebration will also shine a spotlight on The Salvation Army’s Angel Tree program, which brings Christmas joy to children in local families experiencing financial hardship. Through the generosity of individuals, businesses and community partners, Angel Tree provides new Christmas gifts to children whose parents may otherwise struggle to make the holiday special.
For many families, these gifts represent more than presents under the Christmas tree. They offer parents the opportunity to experience the joy of giving to their children while easing the financial pressures that can make the holiday season especially difficult.
“The Red Kettle Campaign is about so much more than raising money during the holidays. It’s about coming together as a community to make sure our neighbors know they are not forgotten,” said Major Bobby Parker, The Salvation Army of Northeast Florida Area Commander. “Every donation, every volunteer and every act of kindness helps us bring hope to individuals and families who are facing difficult circumstances. We invite everyone to be part of this special tradition and help us make Christmas brighter for our community.”
The iconic Red Kettles will be stationed at locations throughout Northeast Florida during the holiday season. Community members can also support The Salvation Army through online donations and volunteer opportunities.
The Salvation Army has been serving the hurting, the homeless and the hopeless in Jacksonville, Florida since 1891. It is recognized internationally for its conscientious use of all donations and for its services to those in need, as well as for its programs addressing substance abuse, domestic violence, and for its rapid and ready emergency disaster response.
